Ye Ha, and a doe see doe to all. The Harvest Thanksgiving weekend got off to an energetic start with the Building on Success fundraising Harvest Hoe Down and Barn Dance on Saturday, 3rd September. With denim, checked shirts and cowboy boots much in evidence (and one Indian who was given a warm and friendly welcome by all) everyone joined in with enthusiasm as the professional caller tried to explain the intricacies of each dance to us. The fun of a barn dance is in meeting and dancing with new people, and the constant changing of partners and promenading brought young and old together in a fun and joyful experience. A barbecue provided the hot food, and we were treated to some imaginative and delicious salads provided by generous and talented members of the congregation. No meal would be complete without dessert, and again the cooks of St Paul’s did not let us down, with a variety and inventiveness that had all our taste buds tingling. The St Paul’s Pub, called The Sword and Key, did a roaring trade all evening, selling wine, beer and an appropriately named cider, ChurchWard’s.

IMG00322-20090903-0951Today saw the licencing of Peter Kane, so that he may be a lay worker in the parish!

The short service took place around the alter at St.Paul’s, with around ten members of the congreation there to support him – one from as far away as Conventry!

Peter will be ordained as Deacon some time in the next couple of months, but for now he will continue to serve in the beneface as a lay worker.
