Whilst the main Pride Event in Chichester took place on Saturday 23rd May 26, June is Pride month in the UK, as well as in many other countries around the world. Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and in friendship to support the LGBTQI+ community , to show how far LGBTQI+ rights have come, but also to remind people that in some places, and sometimes that includes the church, there is still work to be done. It’s a reminder of how damaging homophobia was and still can be for many within the LGBTQI+ community. The church is called to serve and love others, as Jesus loves us. That means extending welcome, hospitality and kindness to all people, particularly those who are, or have been marginalized, and to challenge discrimination in all its forms. During Pride month all are welcome to attend a special service of Choral Evensong on Friday 19th June at 5.30pm at Chichester Cathedral, to worship with members of Chichester Pride, and to pray for greater respect and understanding and to pray that all discrimination and prejudice against the LGBTQI+ community would end . Details of that service are to be found HERE
