Growing in Faith

At St Paul’s we try to honour the human need to grow in the understanding of our faith, to enjoy God in prayer, and to know and support each other in friendship. On this page there are resources to help us do that. These resources change from time to time, season to season, so watch out and please join in. All are very welcome.

Lent Groups 2024

We are again organising a programme of Lent groups to help us prepare for Holy Week and our celebration of Easter. We also hope that this year the groups will help us as we prepare to welcome our new Rector, by reflecting together on our faith, mission and ministry as a church.

We do hope that you will consider joining a group at this significant time for St Paul's even if you have not attended a Lent group before. Each session stands on its own, so do not worry if you cannot come every week.

To help in the smooth organisation of the groups, it would be helpful if people could sign the lists at the back of the church.

i) Tuesdays at 2.15pm in the Parish Centre
led by Richard More

February 20th, 27thMarch 5th, 12thand 19th.

Tea/coffee from 2pm.   Each session will last about an hour

The Bible uses a rich variety of images to describe the church- from A flock of sheep, to A group of travellers on a journey, and A body comprising many different parts.

We shall look at some of these pictures and think about how far they can be seen in our life at St Paul’s. We will also look to see if we can spot where we are in the picture!

ii) Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre (Upstairs Room)
led by Ian Creswick

February 20th, 27thMarch 5th, 12thand 19th.

We shall be following the Diocese Lent course 'Jesus the Lord', which invites us to consider the vital question of who Jesus is and helps us to answer in faith: Jesus is the Christ, the Lord’s anointed Saviour, the light and hope of all the world.

You can see the course material on the Diocese websitehttps://www.chichester.anglican.org/lent/.

iii) Thursdays at 11am in St Peter's Chapel
led by Anthony Freeman

February 22nd, 29th, March 7th, 14th, 21st.

Tea/coffee from 10.30pm in the Parish Centre. Each session will finish at 12.00noon.

We shall reflect on Jesus's teaching about the Christian life in Matthew's Gospel, chapter 6. He shows how prayer, charitable giving, and a disciplined approach to food and drink, help us to “love Godwith all our hearts and our neighbouras ourselves”.

Our discussion will also explore how our private practice of religion relates to our shared journey of faith as members of the Church.
